Sales Follow-up Checklist for B2B Teams
Many B2B deals are lost not to competitors but to silence. A quote is sent, nobody follows up and the buyer moves on. A checklist fixes most of it.
After the first conversation
- Send a short summary of what was discussed, the same day
- Set the next step and a date in your system
- Note who else is involved in the decision
After sending a quotation
- Confirm it was received, within a day
- Offer to walk through it on a call
- Follow up again after three to five working days
- Ask what is blocking the decision, not just whether they decided
When the buyer goes quiet
Change the channel. If emails are unanswered, call. If calls are not picked up, send a short message. Add something useful each time, such as an answer to a question they raised, rather than just asking for an update.
Close the loop
Every lead should end as won, lost or parked with a reason. Reviewing the lost reasons monthly shows whether the problem is price, timing or follow-up speed.
Make it a habit for the whole team
Start each day with the follow-ups due that day. If your tool shows overdue follow-ups per person, a manager can spot slipping leads early and help.
