Card scanning uses OCR, which reads the printed text on the card. The number of scans you get each month depends on your plan: none on Free, 100 a month on Growth, and unlimited on Enterprise.
As with any text recognition, check the details it picks up before you rely on them.

How many card scans do I get?
The Free plan does not include card scanning. Growth includes 100 scans a month and Enterprise is unlimited.
